June marks the end of the tax year in Australia. Over the coming weeks millions of individual taxpayers will collect payment summaries and lodge their tax returns. Most will hope for a big refund cheque.
In the bible tax is an issue that is first raised in Genesis. And it continues to attract comment in God’s word through into the New Testament. Jesus often spoke on the subject. And his critics often raised his associations with taxcollectors as a supposed slur on his character.
